An immediate denture is a complete or removable partial denture that is constructed prior to the extraction of teeth which it will replace and is inserted immediately following the removal of natural teeth.

ADVANTAGES

- If poor oral health then it may be infection or edema following extraction of teeth.
- Additional treatment time
- The additional expence of relining immediate dentures three to six months after insertion.
- Less retention is expected.
CONTRAINDICATION
- Patient with acute infections such as periapical abscesses or periodontal abscesses.
- Patient under radiation therapy
- Extensive bone loss
- Patient with severe gag reflex

1. COMPLETE DENTURE
A Complete denture replaces all the missing natural teeth and supporting structures in either mandible or maxilla.
Complete dentures are worn by patients who are missing some of their teeth on particular arch.
Complete denture covers both upper and lower jaw. Complete dentures rest directly on the gum that covers the bone.
Complete dentures contain acrylic base that fits over your gums.
Complete dentures can be conventional, immediate, over denture, implant supported denture.

- Edentulous patient.

2. REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURE
Removable partial dentures are for patients who are missing some of their teeth on particular arch.
A removable partial denture usually consists of replacement teeth attached to gum colored plastic base which is connected by metal framework that holds the denture in place in the mouth.
