PROSTHETIC DENTURE | Prosthetic Dentistry


Dentures are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth and which are supported by surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity.

Types of denture
  1. Complete denture
  2. Removable partial denture
1. COMPLETE DENTURE
A Complete denture replaces all the missing natural teeth and supporting structures in either mandible or maxilla.
Complete dentures are worn by patients who are missing some of their teeth on particular arch.
Complete denture covers both upper and lower jaw. Complete dentures rest directly on the gum that covers the bone.
Complete dentures contain acrylic base that fits over your gums.
Complete dentures can be conventional, immediate, over denture, implant supported denture.

INDICATION
  1. Patient don’t want to wear partial denture.
  2. Edentulous patient.
  3. Extensive bone loss and periodontal disease.

2. REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURE
Removable partial dentures are for patients who are missing some of their teeth on particular arch.
A removable partial denture usually consists of replacement teeth attached to gum colored plastic base which is connected by metal framework that holds the denture in place in the mouth.
