OVER DENTURE | Prosthetic Dentistry
An over denture is one which is designed to enter the shape of height of the occlusion surface of the teeth over which its fits.

- Congenital or acquire defect of oral cavity.
- Severe wearing of teeth
- Few teeth remaining in one jaw
- Abnormal size of jaw
- Loss of alveolar bone is rapid
- Post traumatic or post surgically in jaw
- For correction of prognatic occlusion
- To improve function of esthetic in badly attrition of teeth
CONTRAINDICATION
- Absence of patient motivation
- Less inter arch distance
- Bad oral hygiene
ADVANTAGE
- Cosmetic result excellent
- Relieve deep bite or traumatic bite
- Improve masticatory efficiency
- Mastication possible in abnormal occlusion
- Increased stability
- Retention well
- Preservation of alveolar bone
DISADVANTAGES
- To maintain proper oral hygiene surrounding abutment
- Require high level patient motivation
- High cost than conventional denture
