IMPLANT DENTURE | Prosthetic Dentistry


The denture which is implanted over the ridge is called implant denture.

INDICATION
  1. Very poor alveolar ridge
  2. Poor oral musculature condition
  3. Low tolerance of mucosal tissue
  4. Macroglossia or hyper mobility of tongue
  5. Inoperable sharp myelohyoid ridge
  6. When genial tubercle is above the residual ridge
  7. Severe morphologic abnormality
  8. Highly above placed mental foramen
  9. Partial or complete dehiscence of mandibular canal
  10. Dryness of mouth
  11. Severe gagging sensation

CONTRAINDICATION
  1. Severe bone loss or resorption
  2. Cyst and tumor in alveolar ridge
  3. Osteomyelitis
  4. Presence of infection
  5. Recent extraction
  6. Drug habit, alcoholic patient

ADVANTAGE
  1. Provide best retention and stability
  2. Increased patient confidence
  3. Increased chewing efficiency
  4. Better speech

DISADVANTAGE
  1. Very costly
  2. Two stage surgery required
