CAUSES OF BLEEDING GUMS:-

  1. dental plaque &calculus 
  2. improper brushing
  3. Improper flossing
  4. poor dental hygiene
  5. gingivitis 
  6. filling denture
  7. periodontitis
  8. trench mouth
  9. scurvy 
  10. dry mouth

MEDICAL CAUSE:-
1.trauma
2.bleeding disorder
3.hormonal changes during pregnancy
4.bacterial infection
5.idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura
6.viral infection
7.leukemia
8.diabetes
9.vitamin K deficiency
10.Hemophilia
11.aplastic anemia
12.drug induced
    [a]anticoagulants
    [b]oral contraceptives
    [c]anti depressants
    [d]anti histamines
13.acute myeloblastic leukemia
14.chemical poisoning


COMMON SYMPTOMS:-

  1. bad breath
  2. bleeding commonly during breathing or in saliva or while spitting
  3. gums are red, soft & swollen
  4. gums are separating or away from teeth
  5. bad taste in mouth

TREATMENT:-
According to cause of bleeding gum
1.proper brushing with soft bristal tooth brush after every meal
2.proper flossing regularly
3.relining poorly fitted denture
4.take vitamin C supplement food
5.scaling  & root planning
6.massage gums regularly
7.apply pressure directly on gums through ice pack
8.avoid aspirin drug while necessary
9.in medical cause diagnostic test of blood such as CBC, HB, Biopsy of lesions or tumors
10.imaging test such as CT scan & MRI
11.X- ray of teeth and jaw bones than treatment according to medical cause.
PREVENTION:-
1.avoid tobacco chewing & smoking
2.flossing regularly
3.scaling twice a year
4.use mouth wash to help prevent bacteria in the mouth
5.brushing after a meal every day.
6.maintain a balanced, healthy diet.
